Following the launch of the Cold Weather Plan for England on 15 October 2015, the Met Office will be releasing cold weather alerts from 1 November.
In line with this, the current alert is at Level 1. This is the standard alert level that is in force from 1 November to 31 March and indicates that people should be taking appropriate action to protect themselves from cold weather. If there does turn out to be a spell of severe cold weather, NHS England and its partners will try to give you as much warning as possible.
But in the meantime, if you want advice about protecting your health from the cold, please visit the winter health pages on the NHS Choices website. Alternatively, if you have any concerns about your health or that of somebody you know, you can also call NHS 111.
