Hurray Porters and the service that’s grown!
Four more hospitals in the North East have adopted a scheme
which should speed up the time it takes non-emergency
ambulances to get back on the road.
The volunteer porter project started in 2010 at North Tyneside
General Hospital.
Patient Transport Service crews take outpatients to their
appointments.
Previously, PTS crews had to wait with the patient until
they had been booked in by the hospital. Now volunteers carry
out the task.
