Ambulance team set to tackle half marathon

A team of South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) staff are swapping their greens for shorts and vests when they run the Paddock Wood Half Marathon next month.

The team of nine will take to the roads for the event which starts close to SECAmb’s Make Ready Centre on Eldon Way at 10am on 7 April. The groups will be fundraising for local charity, Dandelion Time.

The Maidstone-based charity works with children and young people struggling with significant emotional and behavioural difficulties often resulting from traumatic experiences and challenging life circumstances.

A group of SECAmb colleagues are manning a water station for the event and the team is hoping a few extra cheers from the local community will help them round the course.

SECAmb Paramedic Alison Brown said: “Given the nature of some incidents ambulance clinicians attend there is the possibility of a cross-over between ours and Dandelion Time’s work. We’d really appreciate any support on the day and it would be fantastic if people could donate even a small amount to such a worthwhile charity.”
