EEAST HART Team rescue pensioner injured in Britain’s biggest maze

The East of England Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) was sent out to rescue an elderly woman after she fell and hurt her arm in an Essex maze.

The highly skilled hazard specialists were deployed to the maize maze at Blake House craft centre near Braintree, Essex, following reports that the woman was injured while exploring the attraction, which is set in a 10-acre field. The summer maze, which began in 1999, is one of the largest and longest-running mazes in the UK.

An EEAST ambulance service spokesman said:

“An elderly woman injured her arm when she fell in a maze. As she was in a maze, it was quite difficult for our crews to transport her out using their normal equipment so we dispatched the hazardous area response team, who have a specialist piece of equipment that was used to stretcher the woman out.

“She was then taken to Broomfield Hospital for further assessment and treatment.”
