Press release: Prime Minister chairs call on storm

The Prime Minister has chaired a call with various government departments and agencies on plans being in place to ensure people are protected from tonight’s storm.

On the call were transport ministers, the Highways Agency, the Met Office, the Environment Agency, the Department for Communities and Local Government and the Cabinet Office.

The Prime Minister received an update from Met Office and Environment Agency about the risk from the storm and associated flooding. They will continue to closely monitor the situation.

Transport Ministers, the Department for Communities and Local Government and the Cabinet Office updated the Prime Minister on preparations and contingency planning around transport, local authorities, schools, health and power supplies. The Prime Minister heard that the storm could have a widespread impact, but that transport providers, local government, emergency services and power companies have plans in place to respond.
