Two cardiac arrests during the biggest-ever Great North Run

Two patients out of a 40,000 field suffered cardiac arrests during the 2012 Great North Run. Both were taking to South Tyneside Hospital. NEAS also attended a number of incidents which were non-life threatening during the event - which attracted its biggest-ever number of entrants.  NEAS plans on a 12 month cycle for the Great North Run every year to make sure the event goes as smoothly as possible, with the correct resources in the most appropriate location.
